Shed Fire Kills Hummelstown Man: Officials

A shed fire left a Hummelstown man on Friday.

Douglas Sweigart, 62, of Hummelstown, East Hanover Township was pronounced dead at the scene of a shed fire at 755 Laudermilch Road, Hummelstown, Dauphin Community Communications Director told Daily Voice.

Crews were dispatched to the fire at 6:32 a.m. Sept. 15, according to Fitch. 

"He was discovered outside of the shed," she said

Douglas's dad Bruce owned a property on Laudermilch Road, according to his obituary.

Douglas is survived by his brothers Dennis (Debra) of Elizabethtown, Gary (Nora) of Cheney, Washington, Larry, (Lori) of Annville, and seven nieces and nephews, according to his sister Cindy Sweigert's obituary

His cause and manner of death have not been released "pending further investigation and possibly an autopsy," Fitch noted.
